Summary

After learning about the five ICR tools in our EDT class, I chose to reflect on three specific tools: ICT as an informative tool, ICT as a communicative tool ad ICT as a constructive tool. Each of these tools plays a vital role in enhancing both teaching and learning experiences,   Firstly. I reflected on ICT as an informative tool, which is mainly used to provide and access information. In this post, I explained how ICT serves as a source of knowledge by enabling learners and educators to access a wide range of materials, for example, I mentioned Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) which is a platform that allows members to share posts, notes and important information easily. To support this concept further, I created a short video blog of 2 to 3 minutes long where I uses Google as an example. Google offers quick and easy access to information on almost any topic, making it a powerful informative tool. Secondly, I explored ICT as communicative tool, this tool helps users inte...

ICT as Constructive Tool

Image
Constructive tools are digital or technological applications that support learners in actively constructing their own understanding rather than passively receiving information. These tools enable students to connect new knowledge with their existing understanding through activities like discovery, reflection, and creative expression.   Unlike traditional learning methods that focus on memorization, constructive tools encourage critical thinking and deeper engagement with the content. One example include Camtasia studio 8 that we discussed and used while designing a video PowerPoint and all during edt class.   Camtasia is a powerful example of constructive tool which is a user friendly screen recording and video editing software, It allows students to create their own educational content such as tutorials, narrated presentations and explainer videos, By using Camtasia, students engage in the learning process more actively, they must plan, analyze, and organize information b...

ICT as communicative tool

Image
A communicative tool refers to any application, software, or technology that facilitates effective communication. ICT as a communicative tool is essential in modern teaching and learning as it facilitates effective interaction between teachers and students, and among students themselves. These tools help overcome physical barriers, enabling communication both inside and outside the classroom, regardless of time or location. This concept of communication, where both parties (the sender and receiver) actively engage, is crucial in ensuring that learning is interactive and dynamic. As discussed in the course, a communicative tool involves a two-way communication process that is key to enhancing the learning experience. Some common examples of communicative tools include social media platforms, email, discussion groups, chat rooms, blogging, and online meeting rooms. These tools allow learners to engage in real-time (synchronous) or delayed (asynchronous) communication, which is imp...

ICT as informative tool

Image
ICT as an informative tool refers to the use of technologies such as computers, internet and communication systems to collect, manage, store, share and discuss information, In modern education, ICT plays a vital role by offering information in various formats including text, images, audio, videos and animations. This tools have transformed how information is accessed, processed and presented in classroom enabling teachers and students to go beyond traditional classroom. One example that acts as an informative tool is VLE platform virtual learning environment where teachers can upload notes, links, videos, assignments and other learning materials for students and learners to access, as I have learned in EDT201, informative tools extend beyond simple websites or encyclopedias, they also include multimedia presentations, eBooks and learning management systems like VLE. These tools enable both independent and collaborative exploration of materials. For example if students are unable to g...

About myself

Image
H ello everyone, my name is Yeshi Tshomo. I am originally from Trongsa and am currently residing in Punakha. I am pursuing a degree at Paro College of Education, currently in my second year, with two more years to complete. I completed my higher secondary education at Karma Academy in Paro. I have fond memories of my middle school years, which I cherish more than my high school experience. In high school, the focus was primarily on academics, and I didn't have much time to engage in my hobbies. As for my interests, I enjoy watching dramas and movies, and I also love listening to music. Honestly, I spend a lot of my time on social media, sometimes more than I spend on books and studies. I consider myself an ambivert – someone who enjoys both socializing with people and spending time alone. I find it easy to get along with others and appreciate connecting with different personalities.
