ICT as informative tool

ICT as an informative tool refers to the use of technologies such as computers, internet and communication systems to collect, manage, store, share and discuss information, In modern education, ICT plays a vital role by offering information in various formats including text, images, audio, videos and animations. This tools have transformed how information is accessed, processed and presented in classroom enabling teachers and students to go beyond traditional classroom. One example that acts as an informative tool is VLE platform virtual learning environment where teachers can upload notes, links, videos, assignments and other learning materials for students and learners to access, as I have learned in EDT201, informative tools extend beyond simple websites or encyclopedias, they also include multimedia presentations, eBooks and learning management systems like VLE. These tools enable both independent and collaborative exploration of materials.

For example if students are unable to grasp the concept of parts of flowers or a lesson notes provided by teachers, they can explore more on it by accessing o the links provided by teachers like opening the YouTube further to explore on the parts of flower. Informative tools like VLE caters to various learning styles. Visual learners benefit from pictures and videos, while auditory learners can access podcast or voice notes. VLE also supports self-paced learning allowing learners to study anytime and anywhere. They can also note the information on who were online within last few minutes which enables them to communicate with the online users. VLE not only helps providing information on education like notes and all but also helps in sharing information about important events within the college and also timetables and all co-curricular related.

However, there are challenges as not all students can have access to devices or stable internet, which can increase the digital divide. Additionally, students may come across unreliable information if not properly guided. Therefore teachers must educate students on how to evaluate sources and use digital tools responsibly. As a citizen which recedes mostly on digital technologies, I prefer to use VLE to share, collect and access to various information on education purpose more VLE.
