ICT as communicative tool
A communicative tool refers to any application, software, or technology that facilitates effective communication. ICT as a communicative tool is essential in modern teaching and learning as it facilitates effective interaction between teachers and students, and among students themselves. These tools help overcome physical barriers, enabling communication both inside and outside the classroom, regardless of time or location. This concept of communication, where both parties (the sender and receiver) actively engage, is crucial in ensuring that learning is interactive and dynamic. As discussed in the course, a communicative tool involves a two-way communication process that is key to enhancing the learning experience.
Some common examples of communicative tools include social media platforms, email, discussion groups, chat rooms, blogging, and online meeting rooms. These tools allow learners to engage in real-time (synchronous) or delayed (asynchronous) communication, which is important for both collaborative and individual learning.
Most broadly used communicative for our educational pruposes include telegram which has different options available. In telegram we can send messages, voice messages, photos, files or even communicate face to face through video call and meet on voice call also.
One major advantage of using telegram as a communicative tool in teaching is the enhancement of student-teacher interaction. It promotes collaborative learning, making it easier for students to share ideas, ask questions, and receive feedback, all of which help deepen understanding. Moreover it also allows sending of any document like ppt or files which helps clarify concepts and allows teachers to adjust lessons accordingly. By communicating with peers and instructors, students can build knowledge while reinforcing their learning.
However, there are also challenges associated with using communicative tools. Not all students may have access to reliable internet connections or digital devices, limiting their ability to participate fully in virtual lessons. Additionally, some learners may struggle with the lack of non-verbal cues in online communication, which can hinder understanding or lead to misunderstandings. Furthermore, the over-reliance on digital communication tools may reduce real face-to-face interactions, which are often important for social learning.
In my future role as an educator, I plan to integrate communicative tools to facilitate both synchronous and asynchronous communication. This will support a more engaging and inclusive learning environment. By embracing these technologies, I can help students stay connected, share resources, and engage in meaningful discussions, thus enhancing their learning experiences. And communication between teachers and students, or among students themselves.
